MAGGE - WRITER |
|
Rupa
Magge is a graduate of Dartmouth College and USC School of
Cinematic Arts Graduate Screenwriting Program. During her
first year at USC, Rupa was awarded the writing division's
Gene Autry Writing Scholarship. In addition, one of her short
scripts, "Second Best" was chosen by the Peter Stark
faculty to be produced. During her second year, Rupa was the
recipient of the CBS/NAACP Writing Fellowship and was accepted
to the prestigious CBS Diversity Institute Writing Mentoring
Program under the guidance of Carole Kirschner and Christopher
Davidson. Additionally, Rupa was named a finalist for the
Disney/ABC TV Fellowship.
Rupa
was also hired as a writer for Fox Television Studio's Think
Tank to create new media projects. Rupa has always loved to
write. Her poetry has been published in several anthologies
and won several international poetry competitions. Her passion
has only grown since then. Prior to USC, Rupa was actively
involved in entertainment. After winning the Rockefeller Fellowship
for excellence in media at Dartmouth, Rupa entered the field
interning for the Executive Producer of CBS News, Susan Zirinsky,
helping her research stories for the show 48 Hours. During
her time at CBS, she discovered and developed a story that
became a highly viewed full hour segment. In addition to 48
Hours, Rupa also interned for CBS's Young and the Restless.
After
graduating from college, Rupa moved over to the talent side
of the business, where she started working as the Assistant
to the Director at KPA Management, one of New York's top talent
minority management companies. Rupa, also an actress, attained
representation and made appearances in daytime programming.
Her experiences in acting, in combination with the scarcity
of roles for Indian actors, lead Rupa back to pursue her first
passion: writing.
Currently,
she works on the hit ABC show, LOST. Ultimately, Rupa wants
to have a successful television writing career creating and
developing characters that people fall in love with and want
to tune in to watch on a weekly basis.
